There is no doubt about it - today is beautiful. Over at my house the day is overflowing with sunshine & warm breezes. It is a near perfect spring day!
This morning Therese & I headed over to the Bellevue Botanical Gardens for Walkabout No. 31. This time however, we didn't walk through the park, instead we took a different trail that Therese had discovered last week while walking her dog which took us over to the Kelsey Creek Farm & Park.
Kelsey Creek Farm is one of those places that is near where you live, you've heard lots of good things about and yet never quite managed to get yourself over to visit. After all the years living here with Katy, the animal lover extraordinaire - I can't believe we never took her to see this little farm.
Oh well, we all have these places near us, the ones we say we should go to but never do but after visiting this super cute little farm I think I am going to sit down and make myself out a list of all the places near me that I want to make an effort this summer to get out and visit.
The walk over to the farm was a fairly short one but we spent quite a bit of time walking around the park / farm and checking out all the animals. As you can see from the picture above, it was such a warm summer type of day that early on Therese took off her long sleeved shirt and did most of the walk in just her tank top.
The farm isn't so much a "petting zoo" (although they may offer more 'hands-on' type of stuff during the summer) but more of a little hobby type of farms for the kids to learn about the animals and farm life. There were a ton of mom's & tot's visiting the farm today and it is so funny to watch the kids with the animals ... some have no fear of the animals and just want to climb in the pens with them and others cry just looking at them or getting anywhere near their cages or pens.
They had a nice assortment of animals on hand at the farm. They had: chickens, sheep, goats, rabbits, cows, horses, pigs, ducks & geese. The animals were all outside today and the sign said they go outside everyday - sun, rain or snow because as the sign said, 'It is good for the animals ~ and good for people too!"
They do have several cute barns and stables that the animals lived in and a barn which you could rent for Birthday Parties and other activities.
I can't wait for Aidan to come down for a visit again because I think he will like it because aside from the animals they have a large park & playground too.
This was a nice walk because we spend part of it walking in the woods, part walking on neighborhood sidewalks and part in the park / farm. Therese went on an 8 mile walk yesterday but this little walk of 11/2 - 2 miles was long enough for me today. It's been a while since I was sweaty...
Mike and I are off to another baseball game tonight (one of our freebies) so I'd better go and rest before I need to shower and change for the game.
I hope everyone takes the opportunity to head outside and catch some sunshine today.
May songbirds serenade you every step along the way.
May a rainbow run beside you in a sky that's always blue.
And may happiness fill your heart each day your whole life through.”

Well the Mariners went... but the Canucks are still in the starting gate. Mariners go again today so GO MARINERS GO, but we have to wait till tomorrow to see what happens with the Canucks.
Great to see Aidan's ball team won their first game. He really looked like he had a wonderful time.
