Update for yesterday's Post:
Bella is a horse - For Cowgirl Livy & Cowboy Max
Kate is thinking about doing an eight or ten week internship with through a company called ELI (Educational Learning International) in either South Africa or Kenya. Here is some information that she forwarded to me .... the animal program in South Africa. In addition, ELI is proud to announce a new internship program, created in conjunction with the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS)!
Internships are available throughout the national park system. Because we are based in Nakuru, Lake Nakuru National Park is our main project.
Available projects include:
1. Rhino monitoring
2. Animal census
3. Conservation
4. Lake Nakuru wastewater management
5. Range management ( habitat )
6. Mechanical engineering departments
7. Community based projects -educational outreach
8. Botany
9. Garbage collection in the park and Parks Campsites
10. Civil Engineering , Construction within the park
11. Veterinary medicine.
Good grades (in fact perfect grades) will only get you so far when applying for graduate school. Volunteering, doing internships etc have almost the same weight.
Kate is busy these days: besides school she is a member of the Zoology Club at her school, she volunteers for the Humane Society, just applied for an internship at the veterinary hospital at her school, is looking into South Africa this summer - as well as yoga, belly dancing and Cory!
Ah... to be young and full of energy!
